To avoid dwelling too long on how they keep Berlin clean [I prefer the word ‘tidy', which is what the British use in connection with London], these images complete the mini-series. It was fascinating to see how many different vehicles, workers' uniforms and trash receptacles there were, my images are far from exhaustive. I'd guess that orange was the color of choice because it is so eye-catching.
Welcome/Willkommen!
Hello and welcome. Hope you enjoy the images I have posted. Please do not reproduce them without my permission. Most are available as note/greeting cards or as prints/enlargements. Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.
Many have asked about the Header image above, which I named 'Eerie Genny'. It was originally shot with film [taken on the shore of the Genesee River near the Univ. of Rochester]. During the darkroom development, I flashed a light above the tray. The process, known as 'solarization', produces eerie, ghostlike effects; some have mistaken this image as an infra-red photo. Some 35+ years later, I scanned and digitized the print, and did a little modern day editing, and, voila.

Keep Berlin Tidy 1 [Orange You Glad It's Friday]
In May I was with my wife in Germany visiting family and friends. We spent the time primarily in Berlin and Braunschweig, where I was quite busy shooting. I now have a huge cache of new OYGIF pics, which I will start sharing today. I was quite struck by the fact that orange was everywhere to be seen. The most obvious examples were the Berlin municipal sanitation workers, trucks, and public waste receptacles. Below is the first set of images for 'Keep Berlin Tidy'.

World Cup Fever 5 [Orange You Glad It's Friday]
World Cup 2014 is in the books! Congratulations to Germany and Argentina for providing a dramatic and worthy final, and kudos to champion Deutschland. Fans who followed the games know that the officials played important roles, both for the [controversial] calls they made, as well as those they didn’t make. And there were plenty of each to talk about. This week completes my WC 2014 postings, and it is dedicated to the referees and linesmen. One piece of trivia: for some unexplained reason, the color of the ball used in the final was changed. If you looked carefully, the orange stripe [see below] was gone.
Arizona Skies in B&W [Sky Watch Friday]
The latest issue of Outdoor Photography is devoted to B&W, and especially B&W landscape images. Needless to say, I was motivated to consider converting a number of color images, which I had posted in SWF, to B&W. Of course, some selectivity is required, as not every image lends itself to a good conversion. Anyway, I forged ahead and here are some of the results. I’m not sure where the color versions are, but so what. I'm curious what you think of them. Cheers!

World Cup Fever 4 [Orange You Glad It's Friday]
World Cup 2014 is in the homestretch [to borrow a horse-racing term]. Germany and Argentina are in the finals and, hopefully, that will be as entertaining and competitive as the matches leading up to it. While Holland has been relegated to the consolation round, I still have TV images to share from their earlier matches. The top image was just prior to the penalty kick match that they won. The bottom two images were also from matches that they won; although one could easily imagine they were from their loss to Argentina.

World Cup Fever 3 [Orange You Glad It's Friday]
World Cup 2014 continues apace, and the remaining field of 8 has been decided. Too bad the USA is out, but they gave a courageous accounting of themselves. It’s clear that we have a lot of catching up to do with the rest of the world. As in the postings of the last two weeks, these images were made by shooting the TV screen. They include Holland and Ivory Coast fans during games earlier in Cup play.
World Trade Center 3 [Sky Watch Friday]
These images conclude my mini-series on the World Trade Center. They were shot from around the area, an utterly fantastic place to visit. In contrast to last week, today’s images are in the ‘portrait’ mode since I wanted to capture more of the height of the building.
