Welcome/Willkommen!

Hello and welcome. Hope you enjoy the images I have posted. Please do not reproduce them without my permission. Most are available as note/greeting cards or as prints/enlargements. Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.
Many have asked about the Header image above, which I named 'Eerie Genny'. It was originally shot with film [taken on the shore of the Genesee River near the Univ. of Rochester]. During the darkroom development, I flashed a light above the tray. The process, known as 'solarization', produces eerie, ghostlike effects; some have mistaken this image as an infra-red photo. Some 35+ years later, I scanned and digitized the print, and did a little modern day editing, and, voila.

Spring Trip 1 [Orange You Glad It’s Friday]

Several weeks ago my wife and I visited our daughter and two grandsons in Towson, MD [outside of Baltimore]. One of the trip highlights was a visit to the Baltimore Aquarium.  Located in the harbor area, the Aquarium is a superb complex of exhibits that are positively enthralling. Below is a small selection of images shot using my Canon 60D or cell phone.
The top image is that of an Atlantic Puffin, which just so happens to have an orange beak! Fortunately, it sat fairly still and I could get several decent shots using a zoom lens. Not all tanks were well illuminated, which made shooting a challenge, in addition to the fact that the fish were almost always on the move. Nevertheless, I did get some images worth sharing.

Florals [Orange You Glad It’s Friday]

Spring has been here officially for weeks, but the prevailing weather has borne little relationship to the calendar. Notwithstanding, my archive contains many bright floral images, which are good antidotes against the winter blahs. The Rochester Public Market is a great place to shop for, look at, as well as to photograph flowers. Here are several examples.

The anemone image below is one that I manipulated in Photoshop Elements.

Pittsburgh: Odds and Ends [Orange You Glad It’s Friday] [Sky Watch Friday]

In 2013 my wife and I were in Pittsburgh, PA for the first time. It was a lovely visit and we were very pleased that we made the trip. Although I posted quite a number of images, I still managed to overlook some. So, today’s posting contains some ‘odds and ends’ that don’t quite fit together, other than the fact they were shot during our visit.
The image below is that of Heinz Stadium, home of the [American football team] Pittsburgh Steelers. I shot this from atop an open double-decker sightseeing bus as we were crossing a bridge. The large fountain in the lower center is at the tip of Point Park, located at the end of a long and beautiful promenade that stretches a long way along the river shoreline.

This image is a detail from the Roberto Clemente Bridge, which was bedecked with hundreds of colorful quilts and rugs; I don't remember the occasion for this display. The bridge is a short span and pedestrians easily traverse the span.

A visit to the open air market in the Strip District is obligatory if you visit Pittsburgh. There is always something for photographers to shoot, particularly people. This attractive driver was parking her car and oblivious to my presence.

What would a market be if there were no musicians to entertain passersby? This gentleman played a mean trombone.
