In addition to photography, I have been deeply involved in African drumming. Some of you may have seen Lori's photos/videos of drum ensembles playing at Brockport State on her Skoogfarm Journal site. The leader of our group is an amazing, modest and gentle man named Khalid Saleem. He is not only our drum instructor but also something of a spiritual guru. The photo below is a portrait of him, which I think speaks volumes -- I thought I'd submit it to the Sunday Stills/Blue exhibit.
Welcome/Willkommen!
Hello and welcome. Hope you enjoy the images I have posted. Please do not reproduce them without my permission. Most are available as note/greeting cards or as prints/enlargements. Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.
Many have asked about the Header image above, which I named 'Eerie Genny'. It was originally shot with film [taken on the shore of the Genesee River near the Univ. of Rochester]. During the darkroom development, I flashed a light above the tray. The process, known as 'solarization', produces eerie, ghostlike effects; some have mistaken this image as an infra-red photo. Some 35+ years later, I scanned and digitized the print, and did a little modern day editing, and, voila.

Wonderfully warm portrait!
Hey Stan! A new comment! Perfect shot for Sunday Stills...BLUE. The sunset is gorgeous too.
Thanks ladyfi, I think it really captured his calm nature; he is a real Mensch!
Stan...you figured out a lot of stuff today. Links, SkyWatch, Sunday Stills, BIG photos. You're really catchin'on.
Mine's a man in blue too.
welcome! Perfect blue photo! I just love that shade of blue!
hi Ann, Brilliant minds think alike --
hi Brenda, Yep, but, I had nothing to do with it -- grin.
Welcome to Sunday Stills! I think this is really a great portrait....you've captured a wonderful expression.
Thanks 'gtyyup'! Hope to check out you site shortly -- Since you have a farm and horses, you must go to the Skoog Farm Journal blog site. You can get there via the link on my page. Lori has similar interests and has numerous fine shots of the animals, along with her daily journal. See ya around--
That's a wonderful portrait.
Thanks, Lee! I don't know what the M.O. is regarding responding to Comments. Whereas it would be nice to reply to each one, is it acceptable to issue a blanket thanks to all who have expressed their appreciation, or simply enjoy the compliment without further ado? Thanks in advance for the favor of a reply.
There are many words written on that face! Welcome to Sunday Stills.
Wonderful capture, with great detail. He really does look pensive.
As far as replying to comments, I think it varies and is a personal choice.
Thanks, aurora. He really is a 'thoughtful' man -- it was a lucky 'catch' --
It looks that way -- I'm too darned anal not to reply -- sigh.
