Welcome/Willkommen!

Hello and welcome. Hope you enjoy the images I have posted. Please do not reproduce them without my permission. Most are available as note/greeting cards or as prints/enlargements. Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.
Many have asked about the Header image above, which I named 'Eerie Genny'. It was originally shot with film [taken on the shore of the Genesee River near the Univ. of Rochester]. During the darkroom development, I flashed a light above the tray. The process, known as 'solarization', produces eerie, ghostlike effects; some have mistaken this image as an infra-red photo. Some 35+ years later, I scanned and digitized the print, and did a little modern day editing, and, voila.

Mackerel Sky [Sky Watch Friday]

When I was a little boy, I used to gaze longingly up at a cloud-filled sky because I thought they were giant dollops of whipped cream.  Well, I've been long since disabused of that notion, but skies like this remind me of that fantasy. [By the way, images that I post here are available for purchase as folding note cards, or photos with or without mats or frames].

Your clouds are beautiful.
when I was a young girl, I liked to lie in the grass and stare at the clouds looking for pictures. As the clouds moved the pictures changed.

Thanks to all!! It was a lucky shot -- we just happened to be at a dinner picnic for our Camera Rochester photography club. believe it or not, I was the only one shooting the sky -- maybe they were not yet ready for 'dessert' -- LOL.

Here's a thought Stan, until you can show evidence of an accomplished professional photographer I wouldn't visit other blogs and leave unsoliciated criticism disguished as constructive commentary.
What you like in a photo and what I like in a photo will not always be the same. I don't post photos I'm not happy with. What you perceive as 'dead space' is beautiful bokeh to me.
I prefer to capture a photo as much in camera as possible with very little post processing including cropping.
All I'm saying is if you are looking for followers for your blog I wouldn't give unsolicited advice that isn't asked for especially if the photo isn't posted for a photography site.
Just something to think about.

Anonymous. Your points are well taken. I've been influenced by a number of groups in which we exchange views on images in that fashion. BUT, we know what we are getting into when we participate. As this was not the case for posting on a blog, I guess I went too far. My apologies!! As for me, I am willing to take whatever comments others may care to share, provided they are instructive. One of my photographer gurus said that he'd welcome negative comments with explanation, so that he could learn what was unsuccessful. He'd prefer that to compliments without explanation of what made the image good. Thanks for taking the trouble to write in detail -- I appreciate it because I've learned something from your thoughtfulness.
