Belonging to a group of photographers can be rewarding, entertaining and
educational. Here in Rochester, home of Kodak, there are many
gifted 'photogs', and they span many decades in age and experience. What
is especially nice is that, in general, the pros are willing to share
their knowledge with newbies and veterans alike. This helps to create a
harmonious community in which we can all admire and critique each
others' work [part of the learning/growing process]. I belong to one such group, which gathers on a monthly basis to view our images that fulfill an assigned theme. Below are two images for the assignment: shadows or silhouettes [or both]. Obviously, I chose
shadows; both of these images were generated with my cell phone
camera. The conversion to B&W was done during editing.
Welcome/Willkommen!
Hello and welcome. Hope you enjoy the images I have posted. Please do not reproduce them without my permission. Most are available as note/greeting cards or as prints/enlargements. Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.
Many have asked about the Header image above, which I named 'Eerie Genny'. It was originally shot with film [taken on the shore of the Genesee River near the Univ. of Rochester]. During the darkroom development, I flashed a light above the tray. The process, known as 'solarization', produces eerie, ghostlike effects; some have mistaken this image as an infra-red photo. Some 35+ years later, I scanned and digitized the print, and did a little modern day editing, and, voila.

Very cool b/w shots!!! I love how this type of feature can make something as simple as tables and chairs tell a story. Great capture of the shadows!
I enjoy your black and whites. You are a wonderful photographer!
Cheers from Cottage Country!
