Welcome/Willkommen!

Hello and welcome. Hope you enjoy the images I have posted. Please do not reproduce them without my permission. Most are available as note/greeting cards or as prints/enlargements. Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.
Many have asked about the Header image above, which I named 'Eerie Genny'. It was originally shot with film [taken on the shore of the Genesee River near the Univ. of Rochester]. During the darkroom development, I flashed a light above the tray. The process, known as 'solarization', produces eerie, ghostlike effects; some have mistaken this image as an infra-red photo. Some 35+ years later, I scanned and digitized the print, and did a little modern day editing, and, voila.

Portland, ME Lighthouse [Sky Watch Friday]

Here is a shot of the famous Portland, Maine lighthouse.  The original image was on a 2x2 slide made in the 1970s, but scanned and digitized some 30 years later. The lighthouse is one of the most highly photographed sites in the USA, and you’ll find shots of it just about everywhere. Of course, I did not know that at the time and thought I had discovered something special. Yeah, right!

Stan, lighthouses mean so much to me, as my dear friend Walter ,in WW2, relied on them when in the Coastal Defence Forces. He told me many stories of ones special for him , lovely photo, and to be able to transfer it to the modern digital form, super. Greetings from Jean

Ha, I know the feeling of thinking you've captured something really special and then finding many have been there before you!! Great photo anyway.

Ah, I got pangs of homesickness the moment I saw your thumbnail photo on the SkyWatch page! I've visited this place often, as my grandparents used to live in Cape Elizabeth, very close to the Portland Head Light! In the summer months when I'd go up to spend an occasional night with them (I lived in Kennebunk), we'd often hear its fog horn through the open windows. I always loved that. Great photo! I always thought this was one of the prettiest lighthouses in the country!

Stan, I know this lighthouse from visiting fiends in Portland (Peaks IS.) You have some great shots on this site. Your years of shooting shows.

Keep 'em coming.

P.S. What's film?
